Boost CYAC has changed the way child and youth victims of abuse are supported, with a proven community response under one roof.
Boost CYAC is one of the only centres in Canada with the police, child protection workers, advocates, mental health clinicians, an onsite medical examination room and a nurse practitioner co-located to:
Boost CYAC investigates approximately 1,200 child abuse cases annually; over 10,000 investigations have been conducted since 2013.
After the Ball will raise funds for Boost CYAC's mental health services, allowing young victims access to comprehensive trauma therapy that is critical for their recovery.
No two children are alike. No treatment plan is alike.
Boost CYAC is the only children's mental health organization in Toronto providing vital evidence-based trauma assessments and treatment services to victims directly following child abuse investigations.
Boost CYAC's mental health services address the root of the trauma through short- and long-term interventions. These services are essential in preventing re-traumatization and in gaining a comprehensive understanding of how the abuse has impacted the child and their family. Treatment plans are tailored to meet the unique and individual needs of each child and family.
Each victim's journey through Boost CYAC's services requires approximately 10,000 hours of direct and indirect services, with a total cost of $200,000 per child.
